Two zirconia grades. Pick by how you mill.

Both grades wear at 0.1‰/h or less, so almost nothing from the media ends up in your powder. The difference is how they hold up: YSZ brings the most impact energy, while Ce-TZP resists aging in long, hot, wet runs.

Choosing a bead size

  • 0.6–0.8 mm: nanoscale dispersion and ultra-fine wet milling
  • 2.8–3.2 mm and 3 mm: fine and intermediate milling
  • 10 mm: coarse and intermediate grinding in ball mills and attritors

Milling cathode precursors or electrode slurries?

Iron and silicon worn off steel or low-grade media end up in your cathode and show up in your cell data. Pair zirconia beads with our zirconia planetary jar (measured at 0.0009% Fe2O3) for a low-contamination setup. Need the cathode too? See our cathode materials.
