Zirconia-toughened alumina (ZTA) grinding media, 5.5–6.5 mm. Coarse-grinding media for ball mills and primary comminution. At ≥12 GPa, ZTA is the hardest media in our range, and the dispersed zirconia phase gives it far better fracture resistance than standard alumina at this larger bead size, where impact loading is highest. A cost-effective alternative to zirconia where extreme purity isn't required.

Compatible Equipment

Ball mills, roll mills, and attritors. Suitable for wet and dry milling. For intermediate and fine grinding, use 2.5–3.0 mm media instead.

Choosing ZTA vs. Zirconia

ZTA costs significantly less per kilogram and grinds harder, but wears faster and introduces alumina into your product. For battery materials, electronic ceramics, pharmaceuticals, or any application where contamination is a specification, use yttria- or ceria-stabilized zirconia instead.
