Lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide, NCM622, polycrystalline. Nickel-rich layered oxide cathode at a 6:2:2 Ni:Co:Mn ratio, delivering above 180 mAh/g with high first-cycle efficiency. Polycrystalline morphology gives higher rate capability than single-crystal grades, with shorter cycle life under high-voltage cycling.

Choosing between cathode grades
NCM622 sits between NCM523 and NCM811 on the nickel ladder: more capacity than 523, more thermal and cycling stability than 811. Polycrystalline gives better rate performance; single crystal survives high-voltage cycling better.
Handling
Nickel-rich cathode powders are moisture-sensitive and alkaline. Store sealed, handle in dry air or a glovebox where possible, and avoid prolonged exposure to ambient humidity, which raises surface residual lithium and degrades slurry stability.
